Another football match recorded by Joel Dardis, with 4×5″ negatives from the Jessica Fong Collection.
Joel photographed most of them with the telephoto lenses he’s been playing with from the bleachers. The date is November 16, 1957.
Based on the amount of slant in the images, I assume Joel photographed from two different locations, possibly changing his perspective during half-time. It is also clear, based on coverage angle, he is using two different telephoto lenses. These are most likely the 15″ and 20″ lens Joel documented testing in May 1957.

There were also a few images covered from the sidelines. So much easier to get good action shots. Also good for the workout. But I believe these are from a yet-to-be identified football match.

The takeaway here again is that the telephoto lenses render contrast better than what his standard 8″1/4 lens provides. The more modern lenses are mono coated and that takes care of a lot of the internal reflections.
Cheers !
