There were few scribbles on this box of 21 negatives.
“Folk Dance”, with a date of Dec 5, 1948. and then there was mention of few “clubs” and Naranjado.
Stepping back for a second, this is the 70th box of press negatives scanned, for a total of some 2100+ images, including a good number of color slides.
The good, the bad, and sometimes the ugly, have been shown over 128 blog posts, starting March 21, 2022.
There are quite a few subjects in box 70.
First image is from Homecoming 1948, this was published in Naranjada 1949. Although Joel was never an official Naranjada team photographer, he’s been contributing since 1942 to the College of Pacific Yearbook, often without proper credit.

I found two basketball images from a 1948 SJC or COP match.

The next section contained group shots, and I believe these refer to the various COP clubs. A few of these shots made it into the Naranjado 1949 COP yearbook. I’m showing them in order as scanned.

The rest of the negatives refer to the bulk of the material, the Folk Dance event on Dec 5, 1948, a Sunday.
Starting out with the shots were dance couples may be recognizable for family sake.

And then Joel moved to a vantage point to give us an idea of the mass of dancers involved. This was a large event !

Although Joel had graduated in Feb 1948 from College of Pacific, he was still very active photographing on the premises. COP was Joel’s bubble.
Cheers !
