This box has as usual multiple subjects spread over 22 negatives.
The box states June-July 1948, but with some circus images mixed in between, this should be May-July 1948.
I’m not sure where the car race is held. Lodi or Stockton I would say.

And Joel is again struggling with light leaks in this film holders.

Photographing car races with WWII style cameras is not an easy task to get a frozen image. Turns are the best locations as the cars slow down a bit.
The next subject relates to the Clyde Beatty circus, in town around May 5, 1948. Most of the images are related to set-up or tear-down of the circus, hard to tell.

Above image is unfortunately a double take. I was hoping it was simply a matter of two sticky negatives, alas.

Ending the circus shots with the clowns.

There are few track stragglers mixed in between, both images are from a pole vault event.

The last four images are an attempt at “commercial photography”. Joel is trying to photograph a sheet set. Lighting is creative with sufficient depth, showing the finer details.

Next blog post we’ll see Joel photographing a wedding of two friends at the College of Pacific Morris Chapel.
Joel is clearly working on rounding his photographer portfolio out. Weddings are a must have.
Cheers !
