Ceramics Critters, JFC, 1965

We’re setting the clock back to 1965. Joel photographed the shaping and decorating of what appears to be ceramic face masks.

He called them “Critters” by lack of a better word in his vocabulary I guess.

There’s no information retained on the 4×5″ negative sleeve on the what, when, who and where.

Just showing the images in the order they were scanned.

The first three images seem to be about design and shaping new work. Next two images show paint being applied while more faces are being made.

These 5 images were all photographed in a single unidentified location, it appears two groups of artists were engaged.

The rest of the image were photographed most likely at the same school (?), but at a different spot, different day. Either way, based on lighting, it appears that both events were shot outside.

Let me know if you recognize yourself or a loved one in these images ! We’re nearing the end of perusing the Jessica Fong Collection of Dardis negatives. But there’s a lot more to come !

Cheers !
